The Indian Women’s Association Moscow kicked off its new season with a fun-filled excursion to Kolomenskoye Museum Reserve on September 6, 2023. Over 40 IWA members participated in the event on this bright and sunny day. The ladies were divided into two groups and a guided tour to the House of Peter I and Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich’s palace was conducted by English speaking guides dressed in traditional Imperial Russian attire.
We began the tour at the Church of Our Lady of Kazan, a mid-17th century architectural monument crowned with five blue onion-shaped domes with golden stars. We then walked on to the House of Peter I. The modest wooden house serves as a memorial museum to Peter the Great. Another short walk took us to the edge of Moscow River where stood, in all its white glory, the Church of the Ascension. We then boarded our buses for the recreated Palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich, where we saw what his throne rooms, his bedchamber and his bath would have looked like.
We concluded our picnic at the café adjacent to the palace with some piping hot Russian cuisine and equally hot gossip. New members were welcomed, some old members were bid goodbye, and a new IWA - Moscow season was declared open. A big thank you to all members who took part in the event. We also encourage those who aspire to be a part of this wonderful organization to register at the Join IWA tab.
